Business Settings

Business Settings is the organization-level configuration area of Comers.

It is where an Organization defines reusable business information, operating rules, communication behavior, automation settings, integration configuration, and access administration.

Personal preferences such as interface language or appearance belong to the user profile instead.

The general settings area contains configuration that describes how the Organization operates.

Depending on the enabled capabilities and your permissions, this can include:

  • Organization Settings — organization-level configuration.
  • Business Instructions — reusable rules, procedures, standards, and operating guidance used by people and supported AI capabilities.
  • Company Profiles — reusable company or business identity information.
  • Store Settings — configuration belonging to the selling context represented in Comers.
  • Carrier Settings — shipping-carrier configuration used by supported workflows.
  • Invoice Settings — reusable invoice and document configuration where invoicing capabilities are enabled.

See Business Instructions for the dedicated guide to operational guidance used by Comers AI.

Business Settings also contains the organization-level controls for Notifications.

These settings can cover:

  • notification policies,
  • message or email templates,
  • destinations,
  • notification languages.

This layer defines the Organization’s available notification behavior. Individual users can still have their own effective notification preferences where a notification type allows it.

For how users receive and work with notifications, see Notifications.

Business Settings is also the home for configuration that connects recurring Comers behavior with automation or external systems.

Depending on the enabled capabilities, this can include customer-feedback configuration, SmartOps message automation, webhook subscriptions, and API integration credentials or access configuration.

Webhook subscriptions connect supported Comers Events to external workflows. See Events & webhooks for the event model.

Organizations with the required permissions can manage team access from the IAM administration area.

This is where business configuration and authorization meet: a setting can exist for the Organization without every user being allowed to view or change it.

See Team & permissions for the access model.

Business Settings and profile settings serve different purposes.

Business Settings affect reusable organization-level behavior and configuration.

Profile settings affect the current user’s personal experience, such as language, appearance, and personal notification preferences.

Keeping those two levels separate prevents a personal interface choice from becoming an Organization-wide business rule.

Availability depends on access and capabilities

Section titled “Availability depends on access and capabilities”

Not every Organization or user will see every settings page.

Visible settings depend on enabled Comers capabilities, the current business context, and the user’s permissions. If an option is not available, do not assume that changing another user’s profile or switching a channel will grant access to it.
